"Other’s attitudes toward domestic violence victims: when the victims decide to return to their abuser"

Niwako Yamawaki, Ph.D.

The purpose of this study is to examine individual’s perceptions of a battered woman who has decided to return to her abuser.  In particular, I am interested in how the effects of the victim’s marital status (dating vs. married) and participants’ beliefs regarding myths of intimate partner violence influence victim blame attribution, minimization of the incident, and exoneration of the perpetrator.
